Birgunj popularly known as the Gateway of Nepal is located at the Center of the Southern border of Nepal. Birgunj is also known as economical city of Nepal. As there are lots of Industries established and being established day by days. Being an industrial area, there is a very less prospect in the area for tourism but still there is few locations where people use to visit for recreational and entertainment purpose.

Background 

Birgunj was founded in the late 1879 AD by a renowned and the 3rd Rana Prime Minister namely, Bir Shumsher JBR. Birgunj is also named after Prime Minister Bir Shumsher. Previously it was known as Gahwa. Birgunj is holding a great historical value in itself. This city has got a sound historical, political, economical and traditional value. Birgunj is considered to be 2nd biggest city in terai and fifth biggest city in Nepal.

However Birgunj is an industrial and economical city, but still there are few places to hangout. The most popular among the recreational site is Ghadiarwa Pokhari. Ghadiarwa Pokhari popularly known as GP is a place where you will find bunches of youngsters hanging and chilling out with their friends. There are also few decent restaurant to have good time with your friends and families like The Dugout, Old Durbar & LA' Buzz Bar, Ace Lounge, etc. There is also located the second biggest stadium in Nepal, Narayani Stadium.
