Pollution - The Polluted Environment and The Polluted System.
We can talk the whole day about the issues that we are facing but
the very first thing that you will notice while stepping in Kathmandu is the
pollution which is killing the capital. The valley which once looked so
beautiful that the great Prithivi Narayan Shah could not leave even after
numerous defeats is now one of the most polluted cities in the whole world. Many
of us want others to remember our country as the ‘birthplace of Lord Buddha’,
or a country having world’s highest peak but in truth we are known as the country with one of the worst polluted cities.
Kathmandu, which is known as the city of temples is now covered by big
buildings. Even the houses look like commercial buildings.
Well, if you are an adventurer, you do not have to trek to
the big mountains for the adventure, just travelling inside Kathmandu is
thrilling- the crazy roads, the dusty wind, the noisy sound, and a challenging
traffic, how wild is it? Everyone knows that it is a burning issue of our
country. You know it is really serious when it is hard to breathe and difficult
to get clean drinking water. The air is crazy polluted out there and the taps
are out of water. It does not end here, the problem is slowly growing all over
the country.
The pollution is going crazy day by day, government and people,
everyone looks interested in this issue but neither of us are really trying to
solve it, are we? Maybe everyone is doing their job as well but they are not
trying to improve it. Government might be spending a lot of money to control
the pollution of Nepal, but we have not seen any kind of improvement, have we? One
of the major reasons behind the pollution might be the development of
infrastructure, urbanization and likewise but that is not the excuse. We are at
a very low level of development. Many other developed countries are far more
advanced it infrastructure and development and the environment is beautiful
over there. So, there is no doubt that not only in the environment but there is
also pollution in the system of our country. The pollution is out of control
and not only government but we citizens are not even trying as well. Only
bringing up this issue in social media will not burn out this issue, we all
need to work on it. Everyone from their own level, starting from themselves.
All we do is blame the government, but instead if we work on it, we might
improve it.
Now, with just over 5 months left for Visit Nepal 2020 to arrive, this
is serious. Everyone is promoting a lot for this tourism year. That’s good but
with this kind of polluted environment, i believe we will be demoting the
tourist arrival if it continues. This has been one of the serious issue of
Nepal. Well, it already was but not only the government even we citizens do not care about it except
to bring up in social media. Now, it is really the time to play the game and
try to win it.
